Satyesh N Bellur was born in Mysuru on 1 October 1962. He studied at Vidyamandira, ITI Colony, up to the tenth standard, took his PUC at St Joseph's College, Bengaluru, a BE at Malnad College of Engineering, Hassan, and later an MBA online from Sikkim Manipal University.
He spent 33 years in IT and telecommunications, in senior roles at Infosys, Siemens, IBM and Tellabs, and then 22 years at Tejas Networks, where he rose to Senior Vice President, International Business. He has done business in more than 50 countries and travelled on government delegations with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). In 2018 he took voluntary retirement to give his time to the other pursuits in his life.
He lectures and runs workshops at engineering and management colleges and companies — on entrepreneurship, advising startups from launch to growth, sales and marketing, international business, personality development, strategic management, change management and business ethics. For two years he served on the Governing Council of the Ambedkar Institute of Technology in Bengaluru.
Writing since 2005, he has published 31 books across poetry, stories, essays, plays, travel writing, translation and management, and translates between Kannada and English in both directions. Under the pen name Navyajeevi he has written more than two thousand muktakas — short, self-contained verses. He started a new form of Kannada song-poetry, the hanigeete, and has encouraged many young poets to write in it. He was among the first to write at length about management in Kannada, coining Kannada words for many of its terms, and wrote columns for Udayavani for two years and Prajavani for five. Reviewing his book Olumeya Honalu in 2013, Kannada Prabha called him “a younger brother to Mankutimma”.
He founded Vipranudi, an English journal of the Akhila Karnataka Brahmana Mahasabha (AKBMS), and was its editor-in-chief for three years — guiding young writers through their first journal articles and publishing some of their work as books, the first such effort at the AKBMS. He has written forewords and back-cover notes for more than thirty fellow writers' books. Drawing new writers in, guiding them towards meaningful essays and poems, and helping them into print is, he says, what has given him the most satisfaction.
His dance-drama Kannadotsava — Idu Kannadigara Atmakathe (“the autobiography of the Kannadigas”) has been staged by about 140 dancers at Ravindra Kalakshetra and Chowdiah Hall in Bengaluru, and at the NAVIKA World Kannada Convention 2025 in Tampa, Florida. He has written songs for albums and films, including Howzat, an album on ten cricketers from Karnataka — the first notable effort of its kind in the state's cricket circles. He has given more than 80 talks on the Vedas, management and Kannada literature on the Vividlip YouTube channel, and for three and a half years has spoken every month on Vishwavani's Clubhouse. At many of Shatavadhani R. Ganesh's ashtavadhanas, and at one shatavadhana, he has been a prichchhaka, setting the samasyapurana and dattapadi challenges. He loves basketball and cricket, and has played both at a senior level.
